Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming “Wow, What a Ride!”

healthy living ~ infused water, wow!

I love water, but I know that many of you do not...and hydration is extremely important to those of us who are on the “Lose Belly-Fat” challenge.

Have you thought of drinking “infused” water? I have been drinking this for about three weeks and WOW, I am addicted.

Although the main health benefit of infused waters is HYDRATION; you do gain some nutrition from each infused fruit. However you lose some nutritional value by not ingesting the fiber, nutrients, and vitamins as you would when blending fruits/veggies and drinking them as you would in a smoothie. In addition, measuring the exact nutritional density of infused waters is also difficult because of how long, at what temperature, and in what amount of water you infuse your ingredients.

That being said, please don’t dismiss infused waters simply because they are not vitamin powerhouses. Hydration is absolutely critical to healthy functioning of your body and brain!

Drinking ample water on a daily basis helps to:

make your own "vitaminwater"
  • Transport nutrients and oxygen
  • Protect your organs and keeps them functioning optimally
  • Keep your skin looking young and soft (yay!)
  • Regulate body temperature
  • Counter dehydration from coffee, alcohol, medications, and exercise
  • Lubricate joints
  • Energize muscles
  • Keep your bowel movements regular
  • Make you to feel full (and lose weight)
  • Think more clearly

What makes infused waters so great is that you are supplying your body with pure water that has been slightly flavored by fresh fruits and herbs, both of which naturally contain water! Infused waters are superior to “vitamin waters” that are made with artificial coloring and chemical vitamins and, of course, far superior to diet sodas that are loaded with caramel coloring and aspartame. Infused waters are also great for those of us who get bored of plain water, which sounds spoiled to say, but does happen if you are committed to drinking a lot of water every day.

For best flavor and health advantage let infuse 12 hours before drinking. I muddle any herbs like mint and ginger a touch.  Place in a water container, jar, or other receptacle — also note, I will use the same batch of ingredients for about 3 to 4 days, refilling my bottle each night to infuse until morning.  If I know I am going to be out and about, I fill smaller bottles, keep them in the fridge to use during the day- while the larger infuses a new batch.

Here are my favorites and their benefits to help with detoxification, energy and hydration. Put as much fruit in water as you like and let the water sit for a minimum “at least” 30 minutes.

Cucumber, Lemon, Mint, Ginger
Water weight management, bloating, appetite control, hydration, digestion

Green Tea, Mint, Lime & (cranberries -optional)
Fat burning, digestion, headaches, congestion and breath freshener.
**for the Green Tea- I just add a few tea bags right into my container. This one is a “must infuse” for at least twelve hours. Yes, you can make tea right in your refrigerator by letting the bags sit in water for several hours to several days (without the hassle of boiling) and we all know the benefits of Green Tea.

Lemon, Lime, Orange
for digestion, vitamin C immune defense heartburn (Drink this on at room temperature.)

Strawberry, Kiwi
Cardiovascular health, immune system protection, blood sugar regulation, digestion.

There are literally thousands of combinations out there, here are a couple of websites that I like best- use your imagination.
